What terminal cleaning means
Terminal cleaning is the full-room disinfection performed after the last procedure of the day, or at least once every 24 hours. It is more thorough than between-case turnover.
Kleaners, LLC cleans high-touch and low-touch surfaces throughout the operating room and adjacent support areas using hospital-grade EPA-registered disinfectants and a top-to-bottom workflow aligned with CDC environmental cleaning guidance and AORN-style perioperative practice.
Our process
- Prepare the room. Hand hygiene and PPE first. Remove trash, soiled linen, drapes, sharps containers at capacity, suction canisters, and kick buckets.
- Lights, booms, and equipment. Clean and disinfect surgical lights, booms, monitors, anesthesia equipment, the operating table from top to base, wheels, IV poles, Mayo stands, and portable equipment. Move mobile items so floors underneath can be reached.
- Surfaces and support areas. Counters, shelves, cabinets, doors, handles, switches, walls with visible soil, ventilation grilles, and scrub or utility sinks.
- Floors and edges. Wet-vacuum or mop the entire floor, including corners, baseboards, and areas under the table and carts.
- Inspect and document. Visual inspection, optional ATP testing when requested, and a room checklist for infection-prevention files.
Between-case turnover is also available when you need a faster reset during the schedule.
